Hayley's photos

For my advanced photojournalism class, I will be posting at least one photo blog a week. So be sure to keep checking in!
Mon Apr 21

I’m not sure if we were supposed to post this week because it seems I was the only one. So I don’t know what to respond to! (HC)

This is one of the shots I took for the extra credit assignment. I like taking shots of the flag in the South Quad because its placement seems so elegant and I love flag shots. (HC)

So I was going to post a photo tonight, but my computer has no memory left and will not upload my new photos. So… I will attempt it in the morning.

The Courthouse. I love taking photos of buildings. Maybe because I’m odd like that. Original: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mitchsurprenant/2375626117
I really like building shots too. I like the angle you’re at (although i know it is the most convenient) because most people would want to get the whole subject or at least something straight on. but i like this. I also like the bright sky here. I don’t believe it was in Charleston! (HC)

I like his expression, but the background is a bit cluttered and I’d like to see the instant before this one - when he was still in his jump; but that’s just me.  (lydia) Shutter Speed: 1/640 sec. F-Stop: f/8.0 ISO Speed Ratings: 400 Focal Length: 154.0 mm    I think this photo works.  It would have been nice to see one when he’s actually jumping, but I know what is going on.  The crop really makes the photo pop and I love the sand flying up. -molly-
I like the action here. i think the idea of shooting it earlier might have been nice, but i like the landing and i like the crop. It’s a different take on a photo that has been shot many times. :) (hc)

I think this is too dark. I think that it would be fine if the focus was somewhere else, not on the sky, but since it is, i think the sky should be made perfect. not the dark clouds, but the bright whight against the brilliant blue. (hc)

I really like the color in the sky here. This is a picture taken in my hometown, flooded by this past weeks storms. I think the picture is a pretty picture and doesn’t look like it’s showing such a tragedy, but looks more like it’s a fence by a lake. But I like the aestetics here.

I agree that he should be in focus. At least more than this. I like the lamp, and the light provided by it, but I think if you had moved to the left a little and got less of the lamp and more of him, it would be a better shot, and more in focus. (HC)

kylebondeson: *****Week 11 Photo I just like this photo because of the lighting on his face, and I like that he’s not the thing in focus. Maybe he should be, I don’t know. Just a quick hint when taking these photos: Make sure you take a few. Focus on the lamp, him, his hands, something behind him… That way, if you don’t end up with a good picture like this, you have alternatives to choose from. Personally, I would like to see this photo with him in focus. Same lighting, same settings… everything. Just with him in focus.
